Greene County has been selected as the University of Georgia’s newest Archway Partnership community, connecting local leaders with UGA faculty, students, and resources to address community-identified needs.
Over the coming months, residents, organizations, and community leaders will participate in listening sessions, surveys, and work groups to identify priorities that could guide future projects. Potential areas include workforce and economic development, housing, health care, infrastructure, education, leadership, and quality of life.
The partnership builds on Greene County’s recent growth and development efforts, including downtown revitalization and the Portrait of a Graduate initiative involving the Greene County School System and Lake Oconee Academy. The county also has a longstanding relationship with UGA through Cooperative Extension and other outreach programs.
Stacy Jones, UGA’s vice president for public service and outreach, said the partnership will help match university expertise and resources with local priorities and opportunities.
“We are so pleased to welcome Greene County as an Archway Partnership community,” said Jones. "The most successful partnerships begin by listening. Through Archway, we match university expertise and resources to help meet community-defined challenges. We look forward to supporting Greene County as it builds on its many strengths and creates new opportunities for the future.”
