CCSD class of 2027 learning financial literacy with $1,000 investment portfolios

Thanks to $400,000 from an anonymous donor and another $400,000 donated by the ACC community, CCSD high school seniors will get hands-on experience with investing.

After a successful first run, the Clarke County School District (CCSD) will continue its partnership with the nonprofit Gifted Savings, which provides high school seniors with real investment portfolios. This will be the second year of their partnership.

Through the Gifted Savings program, high school seniors on track to graduate are each given a real $1,000 investment portfolio at the start of the school year. The program teaches financial literacy and provides a portfolio of assets to monitor and learn from.

After successfully completing the program and turning 18, the students get to take full control of the portfolios that they’ve worked on. Students can choose to reinvest their assets or cash them out.
