Teenagers grow out of shoes almost as fast as parents can buy them. For struggling families, that can present a serious financial burden.

The Beautiful Soles initiative in Jackson County is trying to solve that problem by providing middle and high school students with new shoes, free of cost. WUGA’s Alexia Ridley sat down with Aaryn Fisher, Executive Director of Jackson County Family Connection, to discuss the initiative.

Beautiful Soles is run by Jackson County Family Connection, in partnership with Shoes That Fit.

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio. Alexia came to Athens from Macon where she served as the News Director and show host for WGXA TV. She's a career journalist and Savannah native hailing from the University of Michigan. However, Alexia considers herself an honorary UGA DAWG!
