Our first episode in June presents our summer school special as we share excerpts from the introductory chapter of a textbook that provides contextualized information in order to educate, clarify, and illustrate the story of Continental Complexities: A Multidisciplinary Introduction to Africa edited by Ibigbolade Aderibigbe and Akinloye Ojo.
The show, labeled Introduction to Africa shares facts and figures about the African continent from the textbook. The episode sympathizes with faculty, staff and students who are, due to the pandemic restrictions, unable to participate in summer study abroad programs in Tanzania, Ghana, South Africa, Morocco and Botswana.
In solace, the episode highlights some of the African Studies summer courses being offered on campus. The episode features three African news updates from Nigeria, Mozambique, and the worsening unrests in Chad, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Mali, amongst other venues of the fight against the Islamic extremist and jihadists.
As always, the episode features selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selected tunes with the word Africa in their titles.
