In February WUGA is celebrating the work of local painter and sculptor Leonard Piha. His colorful paintings and complex, assembled structures have been exhibited or are on display at Athens Academy, the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, the Chabad House and Hillel near UGA, and in outdoor installations in Georgia and Wisconsin. For years he taught art at Barnett Shoals Elementary School. People attending the year’s first Artists in Residence event -- on February 17th — will see Leonard’s home, studio, and gallery space, all filled with art. The event — held rain or shine — is from 3pm to 5pm. Light hors d'oeuvres will be catered by Marti’s at Midday, Big City Bread and Uncommon Gourmet supplies lovely wine selections. Admission is $10 for Friends of WUGA and — please note this change: $20 for nonmembers. Friends memberships are $30 or more annually.
