Athens-Clarke County commissioners will get a chance on Thursday to discuss a proposed map of commission districts drafted by Democratic State Representative Spencer Frye (D-Athens).
Frye released his map late Wednesday, just over a week after the four Republican members of the county’s state legislative delegation released their map. That map drew controversy in part for removing three incumbent commissioners from the districts they currently represent. Frye’s map appears to keep all commissioners in their districts, though many districts would still see significant changes.
The special called session is Thursday January 20th at 4:30 PM. The meeting will be virtual and can be viewed live on the county’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
