The Athens-Clarke County Mayor and Commission are set to meet Tuesday at 5:30 for their regular monthly work session. In addition to the first of three public input sessions about the county's budget, Commissioners will hear a design review on the proposed Classic Center arena. That update is expected to propose an additional $25 million dollars in expenditures, mostly coming from loans.

Other suggested changes to the arena project include a reduction in the overall size of the arena from 185,000 square feet to 170,000 square feet.

Commissioners are also expected to hear a presentation on Project RESET, a program which aims to reduce the number of evictions caused by the economic fallout of the pandemic. A similar program in Gwinnett County has helped some 3,700 residents in the last six months.

This evening’s meeting, including the public input session on the budget, begins at 5:30 and will be streamed live on the county’s YouTube page.
