Life in prison for 3 men convicted of killing Black jogger Ahmaud Arbery

A Brunswick judge handed down sentences Friday to the three white men convicted in November for the murder of Ahmaud Arbery.

Travis McMichael and his father Gregory McMichael will serve life without parole for the 2020 murder of Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man. Their neighbor William Bryan was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole for his role in the murder. He will not be eligible for parole for 30 years.

Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty in this case, instead asking for life without parole for the McMichaels and life with the possibility of parole for Bryan.

The three men also await trial on separate federal hate crime charges.
