County Manager Blaine Williams has appointed Michelle Nguyen as the Economic Development Department Director for Athens-Clarke County. She worked in human resources for the county before joining the Economic Development staff in July 2017.
“That was a really, really great opportunity for me since it was a newly created positon...and getting involved in the entrepreneurial ecosystem here which is already pretty vibrant, but has a lot of opportunity to grow,” according to Nguyen.
Nguyen has served as the interim director since September 1st. She says she’s looking forward to new opportunities.
“If I could pick any county to work for, Athens-Clarke County is both a great place to live and also a great organization to be a part of. I’ve really bought into their mission of being an open and responsive government and we’re hoping to represent that well here in the Economic Development Department.”
She begins her new position immediately.
