This first episode in February commences our month-long commemoration of Black History month (BHM), the celebration of the achievements and survival of Africans in America. The episode discusses the plans for the month of February on the show. It is the first of four consecutive shows recognizing the contributions of African Americans to American society. In addition, the episode features news updates from Burkina Faso after the military coup d’état that overthrew President Rock Kabore, and Cameroon as the monthlong AFCON 2021 soccer competition ends. The episode rounds up with announcements of some BHM events organized on the UGA campus, especially by the Georgia Museum of Arts. As always, the episode featured selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selected tunes from the album, Rokoto Fire Dombolo by Sierra Leone’s Abdul Tee Jay, and the very best of the legend, Harry Belafonte.
