The fourth and penultimate episode in May is a full show with multiple areas of focus. The
episode features our sad, painful and justice seeking reaction to the racist mass shooting of ten
black people in Buffalo, NY on May 14, 2022. May the soul of those killed in Buffalo on May
14 rest in perfect peace. Amen. Beyond the anguished reaction to the racist killings in America
and the extra-judicious killing due to religious intolerance in Nigeria, this episode is in two parts.
In the first part, it features African news updates about high stake electoral activities in Somalia,
Kenya, and Nigeria. In the second part, the episode focuses on the story behind the Putumayo
World Music label and the Putumayo presents collection series. The episode also expresses our
gratitude to both the label and series for their outstanding philanthropic activities and for greatly
contributing to the sustenance of this show, African Perspectives. As always, the episode
features selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including tunes selected from
three installments of the Putumayo Presents series, Acoustic Africa, African Odyssey, and
African Playground.
