African Perspectives for November 13, 2022

This episode in November is the second of our four scheduled African music specials as part of the twenty-sixth anniversary celebration of the show. The episode focuses on the wonderful year of the Georgia Bulldogs Football team and the outstanding performance of the UGA team to the recently concluded 25th Southeast Model African Union simulation held at Albany State University from November 9 -11, 2023. The episode also introduces the five countries: Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia representing the Confederation of African Football and the continent at the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup starting next Sunday, November 20 in Qatar. Remarkably all the five African teams in Qatar are being coached by African coaches, former internationals, a first. The episode repeats the announcement of our anniversary plans which includes invitation to listeners to share their anniversary feedback messages and gifts of music. The three questions to which listeners can react were also shared. The episode also provided listeners the opportunity to win two tickets to the UGA Performance Arts Center’s November 15 concert featuring the Soweto Gospel Choir. As always, the episode featured selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selections from three wonderful collections: Africa Essential Album, Urban Grooves, and Rough Guide to the Music of North Africa.
