Manhunt for Jackson County Suspect

Jackson County Sheriff's Office

A manhunt is continuing in Jackson County. Sheriff Janis Mangum says Shannon Carter is wanted on a variety of charges after a routine traffic stop ended up with Carter and Joshua Martin nearly running over a deputy. (Read More)

“A Jeep driven by Martin went up the driveway,” according to Mangum. “They just went by the vehicle, hit the vehicle, almost hit my deputy. The rammed the front of the patrol car because it was blocking the driveway and they couldn’t get into the road, so they just rammed the front of the vehicle, pushing it out of the way. They got into the road and the deputies were able to get in the car and a chase ensued.”

After deputies pursued the suspects through three counties, driver Joshua Martin was taken into custody, where he is being held without bond.

Mangum says Carter is considered armed and dangerous.

“There were four loaded guns in that vehicle, that’s why we consider him to be armed and dangerous,” according to Sheriff Mangum. “We don’t know when he got out to run what else he might have had.

Carter is described as a white male, 5’10”, 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

If you see Carter, authorities say do not approach him, you are asked to call 9-1-1 or Captain Dale Dillow at the Jackson County Sheriff’ Office at 706-387-6043.
