The Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give blood now to help ensure a sufficient supply for patients this winter. Communications Manager Kristen Stancil says the need for blood is constant and more donations are needed in the weeks leading up to the holidays.
“The source of blood is only from generous volunteers so we encourage people to give,” Stancil said. “We do have a couple time that are more challenging than others. It’s usually going to be during the winter months and the holidays. "And the holidays will be here before we know it, so we do encourage people before they get busy with their holiday schedules to give. And during the summer we do see our donations also decline because people are busy with vacations.”
