Clarke County Commissioners are Meeting Tuesday Regarding Plans for Clayton Street

ACC Government

Athens-Clarke Commissioners are holding an Agenda Setting meeting Tuesday. One of the items on the list includes moving forward with changes on Clayton Street. District 3 Commissioner Melissa Link says the issue was addressed at a work session last week. But she says members of the community should be able to weigh in before decisions are made.

"The decision was made to go ahead with a two-lane configuration without any public input on the configuration on the lanes, the sidewalk width and the parking configuration,” according to Link. “There’s no opportunity to discuss some options that might get us a wider sidewalk and some greater public space in that corridor.”

The Agenda Setting meeting is Tuesday at 6 pm. It is being held in City Hall at 301 College Avenue, room 305. Clayton Street is on a list of TSPLOST 2018 projects.
