As Georgians flock to the polls to decide the next governor and other state leaders, Clarke County voters are also deciding on several local races. One of those they’ll have a hand in electing is the battle for the state senate seat for district 47. Republican Frank Ginn is the incumbent.
"The district 47 incumbent 4-H motto, “Make the best better.’
“Whenever I decided to run eight years ago, I ran on the premise to make things a little better in Georgia,” according to Ginn. “I’m an old-4-H’er, a master 4-H’er and the motto of 4-H is make the best better.”
Ginn says he’s pleased that this race has focused on issues, not personality.
“I only want to run on me and my strength and abilities to get things done. I’m really pleased that the campaign has been focused on me and my opposition candidate’s ability. Some of the things I see in the political spectrum are really disappointing because people bring in negativity that doesn’t do anybody any good and for me, I’m proud that both of us have tried to run on our platforms.”
He says if he’s re-elected, he wants to continue on the current course.
“When I first ran unemployment was double-digits, as matter of fact, 13-14 percent, it was hard to find a job, hard to make a living. We weren’t funding education the way that we are today.
When we start looking at the tax cuts that we brought to the working citizens of Georgia, the things that we’re doing to make Georgia a little bit better, improving transportation, doing those kind of things that makes for continued success.”
Ginn is facing Democratic challenger Dawn Johnson.
