Athens Library 'Discovering your Genes: To DNA or Not to DNA'

Athens Regional Library

The Athens Regional Library is holding a class this weekend, to help anyone considering using ancestral DNA kits make the best decision.

Athenians wanting to find out more about their family history via DNA kits may want to make a stop at the ACC Library before sending off that saliva sample. Rhiannon Eades says the ‘Discovering your Genes: To DNA or not to DNA’ class is designed to help you decipher the data.

“Ashley Schull is our coordinator for archives and special collections, she’s being doing a lot of research about these kits,” according to Eades. “You know there are all different kinds of kits they test for different things and different kits can give you different information. And she’s going to go through them and explain what they do and what they can’t do and also talk about privacy concerns.”

The class is Saturday afternoon at 2 pm.

The class is a joint effort with the library Heritage room and the Clarke-Oconee Genealogical Society.
