The 12th annual pageant also raised about $150,000 at the performance and silent auction. Laura Whitaker is ESP’s Executive Director.

“The total goal for the ESP Miracle League Complex is 1.4 million and what we raised helped us to get a little under $1.1 [million,] so we still have about $300,000 to go,” Whitaker said. “We announced this goal back in August at Foley Field and our community has rallied.”

She says the funds come from a variety of sources.

“We’ve received some Foundation grants and also individuals who wanted to really invest in this.”

Whitaker says there was a slew of heavy hitters turning out to support the pageant, including Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan, several MLB players and a Georgia star.

“From the community who rallied together and came out to make sure every seat was full, to a lot of our hosts and judges. We had Jake Fromm our quarterback as our surprise celebrity Emcee, which was awesome. We had Kelsey Wingert who is the sideline reporter for the Braves there. We had the Heavy Hitters which is the Braves and they were a big part of the performance.”

The Miracle League sports complex and splash pad will allow all children of all abilities to play beside each other.
