Madison County Deputy Charged in Shooting Death of UGA Student

The ACCPD is investigating the shooting death of a University of Georgia student by a Madison County deputy.

According to the department, on Monday, November 11th, 32-year old Winford “Trey” Terrell Adams III was charged with Murder stemming from a domestic incident that happened on November 10th.

Police say at around 6:48 pm on November 10th, officers responded to a shooting in the 6000 block of Old Jefferson Road. 

They found 26-year old UGA graduate student Benjamin Cloer shot multiple times. He was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Adams was taken into custody at the scene and after investigation, charged with Murder. He was off-duty and in plain clothes at the time of the incident.
