USG Says Students Will Not Return to Campus for Remainder of Semester

University of Georgia students will not return to campus this semester. The move comes after a decision by the University System of Georgia that all 26 public institutions will move to online courses for the remainder of the Spring semester, with extremely limited exceptions.

Students are not allowed back on campus until they receive permission from their institution. According to the statement, that permission should be coming soon. That means students are NOT allowed to return to campus to retrieve their belongings yet. The USG is developing a plan to allow their return while incorporating social distancing at the same time.

Since residence halls will remain closed, except for those students who are not able to return home or who cannot find anywhere else to stay, the USG will work to accommodate those students.

The USG will also guide campuses in the process of granting refunds for housing, dining and other services.

The letter from Teresa MacCartney with the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia says they are working to mitigate the impact of COVID-19.
