CCSD Community Letter

Dear Clarke County School District Community,

Thank you for your continued support during this uncertain time. We are appreciative of the efforts of our families and teachers working together to ensure students' continued learning.

Thursday, March 26, Governor Brian Kemp announced Georgia school closures are extended through Friday, April 24. Understanding we may receive local, state, or federal guidance to change this date, we will not announce a return date until closer to the end of this current mandate. The district will continue to utilize a distance learning model during this closure. Your student’s school will be in contact to provide assignments to be completed during this timeframe.

Mid-Spring Break

·Mid-Spring Break will be observed as planned from April 10—13.

·No work will be assigned during this break.

·Meal Service will not be provided during this break. Meal distribution will resume on Tuesday, April 14, and again on Thursday, April 16. Testing

·The Georgia Department of Education announced they would seek a federal waiver regarding state testing, and Milestones testing will not occur this year. ·College Board (SAT) and ACT announced cancelations and rescheduled dates.

·College Board also announced Advanced Placement (AP) testing would occur online rather than utilizing traditional exams.

·For further information on testing updates, please contact your student’s teacher(s).

Meal Service/Change to Operations

CCSD will continue providing free meals to students (locations/details).

* Since the first day of operation (Tuesday, March 17), the district served 48,900 meals to our students. Monday—Wednesday (3/30—4/1) we will distribute meals using the same locations/hours as the previous two weeks:

·"Drive-thru" at Oglethorpe/Hilsman from 8:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.

·Bus delivery to existing routes.

*Beginning Thursday, April 2, the meal distribution plan will change:

·On Thursday, April 2, bus delivery and "drive-thru" locations will only operate two (2) days a week (on Mondays and Thursdays). Students will receive food for multiple days at one time.

·The Oglethorpe "drive-thru" will move to Chase Street Elementary.

·New hours for the drive-thru operations will be in effect: 10:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.

New schedule:

·THUR, April 2:"Drive-thru" locations and bus routes will provide food for THUR—FRI.

o Oglethorpe "drive-thru" will move to Chase Street Elementary.

O NEW hours for “drive-thru" at Chase Street/Hilsman will be from 10:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.

o Buses will run the same routes.

·FRI, April 3: no "drive-thru" or bus deliveries.

·MON, April 6:

o "Drive-thru" locations and bus routes will provide food for MON—WED.

o "Drive-thru" at Chase Street/Hilsman will be from 10:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.

·TUES, April 7:no "drive-thru" or bus deliveries.

·WED, April 8:no "drive-thru" or bus deliveries.

·THUR, April 9:

o "Drive-thru" locations and bus routes will provide food for THUR—FRI.

o "Drive-thru" at Chase Street/Hilsman will be from 10:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.

·FRI, April 10:no "drive-thru" or bus deliveries.

Community Resources

·The district website has an updated list of food and health resources available to our families and staff.

·School nursing and counseling staff are available to assist students and families and provide information on resources in our community.

Future Updates

·We will continue to provide updates as we receive additional guidance from local, state, and national authorities.

·If you have questions regarding coursework or device/internet usage, please contact your student’s teacher.

·Thank you for practicing social distancing and keeping your family safe during this time. We miss all of our students and teachers and look forward to a healthy return to school.
