Athens Library Delays Public Access to Computers Amid Rise of COVID-19 Cases

Athens Regional Library

Due to the dramatic rise in COVID-19 cases in the region, the Athens Library system is postponing a plan to reopen facilities for public access to computers. Executive Director Valerie Bell said the plan to offer internet access starting today is being pushed back for at least another two weeks. Bell said “We will reassess the situation on August 3.  Our number one priority is the safety of our patrons and staff.  Additionally, we want to help our local officials as they work to flatten the coronavirus curve locally.”

The library's curbside service will continue Monday through Saturday from 10:00 to 2:00.  Several activities and services are still available online.

In addition, anyone can access the internet by using the library’s Wi-Fi from any branch parking lot, the password is “yourlibrary.” Patrons can also set up one-on-one computer tutorials and use library printers via email.

For more information about services, call 706-613-3650 or visit www.athenslibrary.org
