Georgia Sees a Dramatic Increase in COVID-19 Cases

As national Coronavirus case counts continue to rise, the total number of cases in Georgia has now reached 422,905. According to the Centers for Disease Control, over the last week alone Georgia has added 51,080 cases to their count as well as 763 deaths from the pandemic. That puts the State of Georgia fourth in terms of total cases in the last week and second in terms of deaths.

 

In Athens-Clarke County, the number of total COVID-19 cases has reached 7,426 while the number of reported deaths is 51. Last week the @ACCgov Twitter account reported 179 new cases in the county over the previous week and no new deaths from COVID-19 between November 4th and November 11th. 

Last week The University of Georgia also reported 31 new COVID-19 cases from on-campus surveillance testing during the week of November 2nd through November 6th. They reported a total of 87 cases for the same time period when factoring in members of the Athens Community and the University Health Center.
