The University of Georgia raised $5.3 million from just over 9,000 donors in its first institution-wide, 24-hour fundraising campaign.
Friday was Georgia Giving Day for UGA. A number of prominent alumni, including Kirby Smart and broadcaster Deborah Roberts, promoted the campaign.
9,339 people donated—a number that far exceeded the university’s initial goal of just under 2,000. Donors came from all 50 states and from 16 countries, and supported each of UGA’s 18 schools and colleges.
