Sunday morning shooting leaves one dead, three injured

A shooting on the city’s west side early Sunday morning left one dead and three others injured.

According to a media release from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting on Mitchell Bridge Road, near its intersection with Atlanta Highway at about 12:55 a.m.

One victim of the shooting, a 21-year-old Athens man, died from his wounds at an area hospital. Three others received non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation, and as of early Monday morning, a suspect hasn’t been named. ACC authorities are asking anyone with photos or videos of the incident to contact them.
