The UGA President's house is on the market

UGA Today

The University System of Georgia plans to sell the UGA President’s house after 70 years of ownership.

The house has served as the primary residence for the president since 1949.

The property, which has 9,000 square feet and over 5 acres of land, has become too expensive and difficult to maintain, according to the university. The outdated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems have remained a consistent issue with the property.

UGA has put hundreds of thousands of dollars towards the property in recent years. Earlier this year, the university received $2 million from the USG to upgrade the aging systems.

UGA plans to use the proceeds from the sale to support student success initiatives.
