CCSD Science Teacher named state finalist for presidential award

A science teacher in the Clarke County School District is in the running for a major national award for science teachers across the country.

Enya Granados, an environmental science and biology teacher at Clarke Central High School, has been selected as a state finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching by the National Science Foundation.

Granados and five other teachers in Georgia will move forward by submitting applications for national review. Two winners from each state, other jurisdictions, and territories will receive $10,000, an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. for the awards ceremony, and more.

Awardees will also have the chance to impact teaching on a state and national level. Granados is in her third year working with CCSD. She would be the fifth CCSD teacher to earn this honor.
