Barrow County Superior Court Judge Nicholas Primm has ruled that a jury will be drawn from Hall County for a trial planned in September for Colin Gray, the father of the teenager charged with the deadly shooting spree at Apalachee High School.
The jurors would be selected in Hall County, then transported to the courthouse in Winder for the trial, the judge ruled. Gray is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of involuntary manslaughter, 20 counts of cruelty to children, and five counts of reckless conduct for allegedly providing the firearm that his son used to kill four people at the school.
Colin Gray remains in custody, with bond set at $500,000. Prosecutors had consented to a change of venue, according to Primm, who also noted he was satisfied that an impartial jury could not be obtained in Barrow County.
Primm expects jury selection to last three days. Colt Gray made a court appearance a couple of weeks ago. His plea hearing is expected to take place in October.
