Not the best day to try your luck, this Friday the 13th ACCPD will be setting up checkpoints.
Athens-Clarke County Police Department will be conducting vehicle checkpoints on the night of Friday June 13th from 8pm to midnight.
The department has said that traffic enforcement and education reduces speeding and prevents crashes. Officers will be handing out educational flyers with local statistics and address why ACCPD conducts vehicle checkpoints.
The checkpoint locations for June 13 will not be announced in advance for officer safety.
During a previous checkpoint in October of last year ACCPD reported 5 arrests on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. pkwy and recorded 15 violations at the checkpoint set up at the College Station road exit.
