A Hull man has been sentenced to serve 35 years in prison after being caught with a large number of drugs at a gas station on Danielsville Road in Athens.

Athens Clarke County Police say 41-year-old Dwan Maurice Hewlett was lured to the location by a confidential informant. Officers recovered amounts of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine packed in baggies. A search of cell phones that were in Hewlett’s car revealed messages indicating that he was conspiring to distribute two kilos of fentanyl just days prior to his arrest.

Hewlett had three prior convictions in Clarke Superior Court.
