A fifth state lawmaker has joined the campaign to become Georgia’s next lieutenant governor, with Rep. David Clark of Buford, announcing his candidacy Tuesday.

Clark’s announcement came one day after state Sen. Blake Tillery of Vidalia, announced his own candidacy, becoming the third Republican state senator who has declared an intent to succeed Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, who is running for governor. Senators John Kennedy and Steve Gooch are also running totaling four republicans vying for the position.

The only democrat in the race for Lieutenant Governor so far is Senator Josh McLaurin of Sandy Springs.
