As Athens Mayor Kelly Girtz’s second term nears its end, the race for the city’s next Mayor is underway.
Athens’ Ciné will host the second mayoral debate of this election season this Saturday from 5-7 pm.
The debate will be moderated by Drew Abney and Russell Edwards, hosts of the local Athens politics and culture podcast AthChat.
Candidates Dexter Fisher, Tim Denson, LaKeisha Gantt, and Mara Zuniga are scheduled to speak. Sharon Miller, a senior pastor at an African Methodist church in Athens, is not listed among the participants.
The event is free and open to the public and will be held in Cine’s theatre downtown.
