January tax revenues in Georgia down compared to last year

Tax revenue collected by the state of Georgia last month decreased by over $18 million compared to last year.

Total revenues for the month of January ended at $3.03 billion, as compared to $3.05 billion in January of last year. However, year-to-date net tax revenue collection since July has increased compared to last year. So far, the state has collected nearly $20 billion, about $350 million more than this time last year.

While revenue from individual income tax collections in January decreased by nearly 2%, corporate income tax collections for the month decreased by over 20%. Net sales and use tax increased by 4% this month compared to last year.
