Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating a fatal car crash. On March 6th, officers responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Cedar Shoals Drive and Whit Davis Road.
Police say the car left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Rochelle Jones of Athens, sustained what appeared to be superficial injuries. She was taken to the hospital by EMS, and her injuries were later found to be more serious. Jones succumbed to her injuries on March 11th.
This is the third fatal crash in Athens in 2026.
