Monday marks the deadline for Georgians to register to vote in the state’s upcoming primary election, with officials urging residents to act before time runs out. April 20th is the final day to register or update voter information in order to participate in the May 19th general primary and nonpartisan elections.

The primary will determine party nominees for key races ahead of the November general election, including statewide offices and local contests. Voters who miss the deadline will not be eligible to cast a ballot in the primary but can still register for future elections.

Registration can be completed online, by mail, or in person, though applications must be submitted by the deadline to be valid. Georgia law requires voters to be registered at least 30 days before an election.

Early voting for the May primary is scheduled to begin April 27, giving registered voters additional opportunities to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day.
