A middle school student has been arrested after four Oconee County schools were evacuated due to an emailed anonymous bomb threat.

According to the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, a Dove Creek Middle School student was identified in connection to the incident and arrested. The student faces four counts of terroristic threats and four counts of disrupting school operations charges.

The school system says the evacuations, which took place at Oconee Middle, Rocky Branch Elementary, North Oconee High School, and Colham Ferry Elementary, were done out of an abundance of caution. Oconee County Sheriff James Hale said investigators were able to trace the emails to the 14-year old, who was placed in the custody of the State Department of Juvenile Justice.
