Voter turnout remains high during first week of early voting

More than 184,000 voters turned out for the first week of early voting, according to the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office. As of 2:30 Friday afternoon on the Election Data Hub, nearly 98,000 Democrats had voted, compared to 83,595 Republicans, and 2800 nonpartisan voters. That’s 2.5% of all voters.

Athens-Clarke County saw 1,200 residents heading to the polls this week, or about 1.7% Of those casting ballots, 873 were Democrats, 292 Republican, and 35 were non-partisan. 678 absentee ballots have been requested so far.

There are over seven million active voters in Georgia and 72,268 in Athens.
