During its May meeting, the Clarke County Board of Education selected interim Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Scott as the sole finalist to permanently lead the Clarke County School District.
State law requires the board to wait at least 14 days before holding a final vote on Scott’s contract and appointment. The board said a called meeting for a vote and approval of a contract with Dr. Scott will be announced later.
Scott has served as interim superintendent since July 2025 following the retirement of former Superintendent Dr. Robbie Hooker. The board partnered with the Georgia School Boards Association to conduct a national search that drew 32 applicants before narrowing the field to finalists interviewed May 1-2.
Board members said community feedback favored a superintendent with local experience and familiarity with Athens-Clarke County. Scott has worked in CCSD since 1998 and previously served as deputy superintendent, executive director, principal, assistant principal and classroom teacher within the district system.
