An investigator with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department was terminated after being arrested alongside two others in connection with a child abuse investigation in Franklin County.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested and charged 18-year-old Chasen Gipson, 54-year-old Wendi Gipson, and 52-year-old William Gipson on May 18. Chasen Gipson was charged with attempted creation of child sexual abuse material, invasion of privacy, and child molestation.
Both William and Wendi Gipson were charged with tampering with evidence and second-degree cruelty to children. William Gipson was previously employed as an investigator with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department and was terminated following his arrest.
All three adults were booked into the Franklin County Jail.
