Early on September 21, 2026 the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to a crash along Old Hull Road. Officers believe that Brayan Castro-Delgado was driving east when he left the road and struck a ditch.
The Athens native survived the initial crash, exiting their Nissan Frontier and entered the roadway on foot.
However, Delgado was then struck by a GMC Sierra driving west and succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
Delgado was 30 years old. This is the tenth fatal crash of 2026 in Athens. In 2025 Athens-Clarke County experienced a total of 10 crashes involving fatalities.
