Clarke County School District announced three finalists for 2026-27 Teacher of the Year.
The finalists are Cindy Alexander from Whitehead Road Elementary School, William “Montu” Miller from Cedar Shoals High School and Matthew Rubenstein from Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle School.
Alexander teaches fourth-grade gifted education, Miller teaches AP African American Studies, Ethnic Studies and Peer Leadership, and Rubenstein teaches orchestra and classical guitar.
All three finalists expressed a commitment to building connections with their students and empowering them to own their learning.
The finalists were selected from the field of 22 school teachers of the year.
The district Teacher of the Year and Support Professional of the Year will be announced at an awards banquet Oct. 22.
