To kick off the Halloween weekend, Creature Comforts is hosting a horror short film event Friday night.

The Widescreen Panic Encore, which is co-hosted by the Athens Film festival, features four award-winning horror short films in the lawn of Creature Comforts Brewing in downtown Athens.

Three of the four films were made in Georgia, including Tapestry filmed by Jason Sheedy. That film won the Best Georgia Short Film prize at the 2026 Athens Film Festival earlier this fall.

The other films being screened during the event are Colkirk 2017, Shadow Listing and Blossom Needs a Ride Home. All of them were a part of the lineup at this year’s Athens Film Festival.

The event begins at 9 p.m. at Creature Comforts. It is free and open to the public. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the outdoor screening.
