ACC budget vote postponed for two weeks

ACC Government

The Athens-Clarke County Commission will take another two weeks to evaluate Mayor Kelly Girtz's proposed budget. Instead of voting on the measure at their June 1st regular meeting, as previously scheduled, the Commission will take a final vote at a June 15th special session.

Girtz's budget proposes some $148 million in General Fund spending. The overall budget is $271.5 million, about $5 million more than last year.

Members of the public will have a third opportunity to comment on the proposed budget at the June 1 meeting.

Commissioners also announced today that they will hold a budget review meeting on Tuesday, May 25. That meeting is open to the public and will be streamed on the county's YouTube page, although public comment will not be heard.
