African Perspectives for May 15, 2022

The third episode in May marks the return to regular programming on the show after the six-week African music odyssey that included the commemoration of the International Labor Day and

Mother’s Day earlier in the month. The episode continues the show’s effort to honor the warm and colorful spring season in Athens, GA with an African music and news updates special. In celebration of the season, the episode features selected music from the 2008 3-CD Compilation, Casa Paradiso presents African Chill. Prior to the news updates, the episode celebrates the 2022 African Cup of Nations Champions, Senegal and the four other teams, Ghana, Morocco, Cameroon, and Tunisia representing Africa at the forthcoming World Cup competition in November 2022 in Qatar. The episode provides news updates about two of the different military juntas in West Africa, including in Guinea where the military junta in power has just announced a 39-month transition plan and in Burkina Faso where the military junta is struggling to stop the Islamic militancy in the country and to provide the security promised during the change of government in 2021. As always, the episode features selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including tunes selected from two volumes of the 3-CD collection, African Chill.
