African Perspectives for November 6, 2023

This first episode in November is the inaugural of our four-week commemoration of the twenty-si anniversary of African Perspectives on WUGA. The episode features the announcement of our anniversary plans for the show which includes invitation to listeners to share their anniversary feedback messages and gifts of music. The three questions to which listeners can react were also shared. The episode also featured news updates from Sudan with the unfortunate military takeover and the people’s rejection of the ill-advised coup and Ethiopia where the ongoing crisis has worsened so much that the whole world is demanding that all sides in the conflict move towards peace negotiations as famine in the region is making things worse. The episode also shares two African news updates from the challenging increased flooding in West and Central Africa that has affected millions in 17 countries since August to the uplifting news from the Ethiopia – Tigray peace talks in South Africa. Finally, the episode provides information on the forthcoming 25th Southeast Model African Union (SEMAU) taking place at Albany State University, Albany, GA from November 9 – 11, 2022. As always, the episode featured selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selections from the Nigerian duo, P-Square, Ethiopia’s Gigi, and Sam Mukoro.
