The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has made an arrest in a shooting incident that resulted in several area schools and businesses going on lock down. Police arrested 29-year old Oscar Zarco for Battery, two counts of Cruelty to Children in the 3rd Degree and Aggressive Driving.
According to witnesses, the apparent road rage altercation stemmed from Zarco’s aggressive driving with another vehicle near College Avenue and Hoyt Street. During an interaction between Zarco and the other driver, a gun was fired but no one was injured. Zarco was taken to the Clarke County Jail and booked on the four charges.
In a separate incident, an arrest has been made in a shooting that happened last week.
The ACCPD arrested 31-year old Adam Conerly of Winterville for the incident on Spring Valley Road on September 5th.
Police say Conerly fired multiple gunshots into the victim’s trailer. Once round hit the victim in the arm.
The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital.
Conerly was arrested today and charged with Aggravated Assault and two counts of Criminal Damage to Property 2nd degree.
He was taken to the Clarke County Jail.
Police also arresting two burglary suspects after a 911 caller reported seeing two suspects running down Cavalier Road, one of them carrying a rifle.
Around the same time, a resident in the 100 block of Biscayne Drive called to report his home had been burglarized and a gun was missing.
Witness reported seeing the suspects at a home at 330 Cavalier Road.
After police searched the home, 19-year old Demitroi Jordan was charged with two counts of Burglary, two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.
The other suspect, a juvenile, was release to a parent.
