Clarke County School Board Expected to Select Interim Superintendent

The Clarke County School District could have a new interim superintendent as early as Tuesday evening. The school board is holding a called meeting to appoint an interim superintendent.

According to a release from the Athens Area Black History Committee, the NAACP and others are expected to protest the move since they say board members are ignoring appeals to retain current superintendent Demond Means.

Board members voted to place Dr. Means on administrative leave and to appoint an interim superintendent at a called meeting on December 9th.

The meeting is 6 o’ clock at the H.T. Edwards building on Dearing Extension.
