UGA Continues to See a Decrease in COVID-19 Cases

The University of Georgia is once again reporting a decrease in the number of positive COVID-19 cases this week. UGA performed significantly more tests during the week of November 9th through 15th at 2,544, resulting in 24 positives, lowering the positivity rate to 0.9434%.

Of those taking the tests 6.8% are faculty, 15.1% staff and 78% students.

Statewide, the total number of cases is currently approaching 394 thousand, with 8,536 confirmed deaths and an additional 529 probable deaths due to coronavirus. Those numbers from the Georgia Department of Public Health also show more than 33 thousand hospitalizations.

There are more than 6,300 cases in Clarke County, with 390 of those coming during the last two weeks. The death toll from the virus stands at 51 in Athens.
