Due to overcrowding, the Athens Area Humane Society will have free dog adoptions on July 21 and July 22.
This includes all adult dogs over 6 months old and currently being fostered.
Animal shelters across the southern U.S. are at — or over—capacity and are continuously seeking homes for their animals. Some causes of overflowing shelters include staffing shortages, cost of living increases, and lack of access to veterinary care.
