The state’s murder trial of the man accused of killing Elijah Wood while he worked at a RaceTrac store in Oconee County in 2021 has been postponed until November 10.

The Oconee Enterprise reports the trial of Akhil Nasir Crumpton was previously scheduled to start July 14.

In March of last year, Crumpton was sentenced in a federal trial to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of interference with interstate commerce by attempted robbery and making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm in connection with the murder.

Superior Court Judge Eric Norris said the date change was based on the availability of attorneys and their schedules, and the estimated length of the trial.
